We as the union do not feel the pushing back of school at the expense of teachers is legal or positive for our teachers. We will do everything possible to prevent loss of pay for our members. Recently some members of the school board have suggested that GPSS moves back the school year to allow the opening of the new school to get desks and equipment to put in our new school. Then the closing of JFK and GW help fan the fire for this scare. This should not have happened until all ideas have been exhausted in a working session. We have a working session Friday at 3:00 and a board meeting on Tuesday at 6:00 please feel free to express your concern to the board members at the board meeting.
