The Honolulu Advertiser is cutting 54 positions from its staff. In a statement, publisher Lee Webber says the entire newspaper business is facing economic challenges because advertising revenues have been slowed as readers shift from printed to electronic sources. While they’re trying to gain money for themselves, 54 families will be suffering figuring out how they will pay their bills! The Advertiser has been cutting costs by cutting positions and even offering early retirements.
