On Friday, the Director of DPW, Larry Perez, called a press conference to try to justify his bad faith actions with regards to contract negotiation for DPW Bus drivers. During this press conference he allegedly made erroneous statements such as a union contract would keep bus drivers from getting a raise. Wages are set by the unified pay scale and are not negotiable. He also stated that the 10% merit bonus was illegal! The language that we put in the contract was cut and paste from the law! Could Mr. Perez be trying to sell off School bus operations to his friends that own bus companies like hes tried to do with solid waste and failed miserably with public transit?
