Senator Jesse Lujans Bill 122 proposing Power Deregulation would increase power rates if passed. The idea behind deregulating power is to stimulate competition by allowing independent power suppliers to sell power to GPA and directly to ratepayers provided their rates are 10% lower than GPAs. Several states have implemented the bill but have not had any success. The bill increased power rates almost triple the amount and caused rolling blackouts in California.
