Rector met with Taiwan Director Bruce to discuss Taiwan’s Universal healthcare system. The Taiwanese government spends about 6.3% of their GDP on healthcare compared to the U.S. where we spend 16% of our GDP. Taiwan’s healthcare system has the lowest administrative costs in the world due to the use of their technology and using the country’s single insurer. Families have one of the lowest out-of-pocket expenses with quality healthcare; there are no waiting lines in the clinics, no need for doctor’s referrals. Only a matter of time when we can finally implement some type of Universal Healthcare system on Guam so that we can receive better quality healthcare at more affordable costs.
