According to the USDOE National Center for Educational Statistics, the budget for GPSS should be around $400 million but the recent FY ’09 budget has only appropriated $189 million. We have been underfunding not only our public education but our healthcare, public safety and more. We have solutions in generating revenue into our public structure so that we can provide adequate education for our children, quality healthcare and a safer environment for everyone. Change has to start from our legislature. We can improve the quality of our lives but it will take some changes in our laws and it will require the right elected officials to fight for working families.
