The Rudd Labor Government must protect workers’ rights and get rid of the Howard Government’s unfair industrial relations laws for the construction industry when it brings in new legislation this week, says the ACTU.

The Government’s announcement today that it will put forward new industrial relations legislation this week for the construction industry is long overdue, coming more than 18 months after the Rudd Government was elected on a clear platform to restore workers’ rights, say unions.

Unions are calling for one set of laws to govern all workers and an end to the Howard Government’s discriminatory laws against construction workers. continue reading
