The number one advice when sick is to STAY HOME FROM WORK OR SCHOOL, according to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention. Taking care of your health is important and losing a day’s pay of work shouldn’t prevent you from taking care of yourself or an immediate family member. Many workers on Guam, especially those in the private sector, do not have paid sick leave or accumulate very little. At times, employers even require a doctor’s note for taking off one day. Bill 203 will fix paid sick leave for both private and public workers. This is an important piece of legislation that will help prevent the spread of disease and illness while at the same time prevent workers from having to choose between taking care of their health or paying the bills. Please attend the public hearing on Bill 203 The Working Family Leave Act this Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the Legislative Public Hearing Room 10am.
