The Joint Guam Program Office presented their draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Marine relocation to Guam. Part of the plan includes the Department of Defense drilling their own wells into our aquifer without any say from the people of Guam. One of Guam’s most important natural resources is our aquifer which holds our fresh water supply. At this point we don’t know how much more we can tap into our fresh water before it reaches its tipping point. We don’t want that to happen, otherwise our fresh water will be mixed in with salt water. We need to protect our water aquifer system. We need extensive research to find out when that tipping point will happen. Tell your senators if you are concerned and urge them to ensure our natural resources are protected.
