How many friends or relatives do you know left Guam because they can’t find a good job? Probably many. Our wages have been driven so low that our people can’t find decent jobs and result to seeking assistance. 33,000 adults on Guam have given up looking for work and a majority of those working earn below the poverty level. When we put more money into our workers pockets, we will be able to circulate more money into our economy which will benefit both consumers and businesses. Economists throughout the nation have been studying the correlation between unions and a good economy. When union growth was high in the US, the economy was at its peak. Why? Wages were up and benefits were good. This is exactly what we need in our island.
