Instead of signing off a contract for a temporary building for JFK, it makes more sense to rebuild JFK using the federal stimulus money from President Obama’s American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Our children deserve their school in a new condition that will provide them with a suitable learning environment. The proposed building in Tiyan to be used to temporarily place JFK students, faculty and staff poses some drawbacks to our children’s education. Studies have shown schools near airports have negative effects on the academic performance of students. It makes it quite difficult for teachers to proceed with their lessons if they have to constantly stop after a plane departs or approaches. Not only is this a disadvantage in our children’s education but it is wiser to invest in rebuilding a permanent JFK school rather than a temporary school.
