Long before I began working at the Teamsters Union I was watching the School Bus and Transit Workers campaign. I always thought that if there was one campaign that really resembled a true worker movement, it was this one. The workers are often paid with substandard wages, contend with crap work rules (if any), and often times deal with appalling working conditions. Yard after yard the workers are coming together to form their union, and since the campaign began in 2006 more than 14,000 school bus drivers and transit workers have joined the Teamsters Union. continue reading
