We have hardworking bus drivers who ensure our children go to school and get home safely five days a week and not to mention adjust their schedules for schools with double sessions in which they start their workday as early as 5am and end at 7pm getting paid for only 8 hours of work. Our bus drivers are not given enough credit and compensation for the work they put into in order to support their family. The PDN stated, “The current system places more importance on keeping people employed in full-time jobs than on providing cost-efficient and effective service.” We cannot sacrifice the safety of our children over cost-effective solutions such as reducing the hours of our bus drivers. Try to work a day in their shoes and see if you would like to be responsible for the lives of thirty children.
