Some 8,500 University of California service workers – members of AFSCME Local 3299 – will see their wages rise by 16 percent over five years under a new agreement ratified this month after a year-and-a-half of tough bargaining. The historic contract covers custodians, gardeners, food service workers and drivers for the 10-campus system.
