Workers may be at the bottom-line obligated to perform duties as instructed but they have rights and deserve respect and fair treatment. We encourage workers to understand their rights and voice their concerns to upper management when issues arise. Many workers don’t know their rights and take in whatever treatment is given even though it may be wrong and that isn’t right. When there is a balance between management and workers, the company, agency or organization functions properly. How can a restaurant function without servers and cooks? How can we be safe without police officers and firemen? How can we have clean restrooms and offices without custodians? How can our children go to school without bus drivers? How can we have stores without sales clerks? Can you imagine a society without workers? Our island functions because of workers and they have long been forgotten as the backbone of our island.
