CHIEF WANTS TO OUTSOURCE ENTIRE FIRE DEPARTMENT?

After weeks of negotiations between GFT and the Guam Fire Department (GFD) an agreement was reached but the Fire Chief refused to sign it. We went back to the table with his negotiating team and another Tentative Agreement was reached but it also was not signed. Instead, the Chief had the Assistant AG Keeler write a substitute contract (click here to read) that takes away rights firefighters currently have, is in direct violation with the law and would allow the Chief to completely outsource every job in GFD!!! Our firefighters are the first ones called if we have an emergency at home or work. They spend half their lives away from their families. They are highly trained and potentially hold all of our lives in their hands. Don’t they deserve a little dignity and respect?
