DOE FREE ANNUAL TB TESTS IN THE WORKS

President Rector submitted a letter today to Superintendent Underwood regarding Annual TB Testing for all of our children at DOE schools. While GFT has successfully saved money for our members and their families by holding Annual TB Tests at no cost, at least one school still has a TB outbreak every year. Rector proposes that DOE utilize resources from not only their health care professionals but those of DPHSS, GMH, Community Health Centers, and the nursing programs of GCC and UOG so that we can implement FREE Annual Tests for students, faculty and staff of DOE. This will be little to no additional costs for the Department. Rector recommends that a committee be formed to work out the logistics to implement this every year.
