GFT CELEBRATES ARBOR DAY!

GFT members and staff planted various trees today around the GFT Compound in Mangilao in celebration of Arbor Day. Arbor Day was founded by J. Sterling Morton from Detroit who strongly advocated tree planting. When he became Secretary of Nebraska he proposed the Tree-Planting holiday “Arbor Day” and it was officially proclaimed in 1874 (http://www.arborday.org/arborday/history.cfm).
