As Dr. King once said “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” Do you think when Dr. K said this he would have imagined in just a few short decades later Barack Obama would be President? I think he did. No movement has ever succeeded without the deep seated belief that truth and justice would eventually be victorious and I believe the same.

We have no choice but to fight for our families to live a better life or to relinquish their future to the desperation of poverty wages, drastically underfunded schools and inadequate, unaffordable health care which we have to fly off island for. This path to destruction is in our hands to change and change it we will.

Thanks to the machinery that Guam’s working families and our union has created over the past few years, we have the power to participate and win in our democracy! We can win democracy at work through our union but our power comes from the collective efforts from all of us to be willing to stand for our brothers and sisters.

Together We Win
