The new $2 a pack tax increase on cigarettes is a regressive tax which hurts working class people and local businesses while letting the rich and big corporations have a free ride once again. $60/month for someone making minimum wage hurts far more than someone making $250+/hr. This will cause people to stop spending on things like cable and cell phones. It will also discourage people from shopping at local stores and start getting their friends to buy cigarettes on base or duty free at the Airport.
