Our Teachers’ Contract Committee have started meeting for the past few weeks to prepare for the upcoming contract negotiations. One of the issues that have been discussed is the importance of including physical education, music and art specialists in the elementary schools which they currently do not have. It is important that we have P.E. Specialists to promote a healthy and active lifestyle at an early age as well as emphasize the development of our children’s motor skills. Specialists in music and art will be able to properly teach music education to our children so that they can learn to express themselves creatively while at the same time develop teamwork skills and discipline. Research has shown that implementing a good P.E. and music and arts program will have positive impacts in our children’s education. In order to improve our public education, we must give our children the best learning experiences and it starts in their early childhood.
