Time and time again we emphasize the importance of our children’s education yet the decision made by those in power at DOE doesn’t seem to support this value. A 7 year battle for the furlough pay does not show any respect or fair treatment for these teachers who are responsible for educating our children. If DOE’s reason for not paying is because of the 1998 issue where teachers were overpaid then this is truly unfair. These are two separate issues that need to be addressed. According to Atty Kutz, DOE has not presented any evidence that the teachers overpaid in 1998 are the exact same teachers who were furloughed in 2003. It’s time to settle this issue once and for all. All teachers are highly encouraged to attend the Special Board Meeting on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at DOE Central 6pm. Click to watch Wednesday Press Conference
