Today we celebrate International Workers’ Day also known as May Day where we honor our workers throughout the world for their hard work and dedication in their jobs. May Day dates back to the victory of hundreds of thousands of workers in Chicago in the 1800s as they fought for an eight hour work day which we all enjoy today. With the recent fight for collective bargaining and workers’ rights, this year’s May Day comes in good timing. This historic fight for workers’ rights has once again brought workers throughout the world together to continue advocating for fairness and justice in the workplace. What’s good for our workers is good for our families hence good for our community as a whole.
