PRES RECTOR ON CONFERENCE CALL WITH VP BIDEN & SECRETARY SOLIS

The Obama Administration is completely supportive of protecting workers’ rights and collective bargaining as confirmed by Vice President Joe Biden and U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis. President Matt Rector along with other union representatives joined in a conference call with VP Biden and Secretary Solis this morning, Guam time. Attacking workers and their families is not the solution to resolving State budget problems but rather the focus should be on growing a strong middle class. AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka stressed that in order to have a strong middle class, we need unions. As our brothers and sisters in Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana and various other states are being attacked by anti-worker/family legislation, union brothers and sisters throughout the world are standing behind them including GFT. This fight does not only represent the workers of these states but it represents the fight that workers throughout the world have been experiencing for years. Read more on the conference call
