Parents, what if your child had to be in school with 50 other children in class? Teachers, would you be content with having additional duties such as lunch duty, bus duty, or janitorial duties?  Well, this can happen without a Teachers’ contract in place.  Protecting the rights, responsibilities and working conditions of teachers, which in turn protects our children’s education, can only be done through a collective bargaining agreement or contract.  Negotiations for the teachers’ contract began with a rocky start, but the GFT Team will work at its best to ensure our teachers and children are protected.  It’s important that teachers and parents get involved by attending the negotiation meetings.  Let us know what you think should be implemented in the contract.  Please visit the Teachers’ Negotiations campaign page on the GFT website for detailed updates.  All negotiation meetings are recorded and will be posted on the website soon.
