GFT PRESERVATION SOCIETY UNCOVERS 1977 GUAM DAILY NEWS ARTICLE: AIDES TO GET CONTRACTS

On December 6, 1977, the Daily News staff published an article stating “The contract for 200 cafeteria workers should be completed by Thursday, Robert Hartsock, Guam Federation of Teachers executive director, said yesterday. GFT is the union representing the cafeteria workers as well as DOE’s approximately 300 school aides.  Agreement in the aides’ contract is expected next Tuesday, Joseph Rhatigan, DOE chief negotiator, said yesterday, concurring with Hartsock.”  This article is an important piece of history that is evidence of GFT’s recognition over the DOE support staff.   We will be publishing important historical information about GFT as the Preservation Society uncovers more.  View article here
