The most recent court hearing for the teacher furlough was on February 12, 2013 where GFT and DOE presented their arguments before Justice Torres, Justice Mariman and Justice Castro.  The case is still in review and pending a decision to grant the monies owed to all 1,832 teachers. Recent publication in other media sources claim the Governor’s office MAY be able to pay out the teacher furlough upon availability of funds, if the court cases between GFT and DOE are settled or dropped.  However, GFT will continue working with its Attorney in ensuring the furlough case is handled properly and is in the best interest of ALL the teachers.  You may view a timeline of the furlough case on the GFT website- campaign tab.
