The Guam Police Department (GPD) had a full week of ceremonies this week in celebration of National Police Week.  The week’s activities kicked off on Monday at the Governor’s office for the Proclamation signing.  On Wednesday, officers who have lost their lives on the job were honored at the Peace Officers’ Memorial Service held at the Hagatna Precinct.  It was a beautiful ceremony that included a presentation of wreaths and flowers and a releasing of the doves.  GFT member, Police Sgt. Frankie E. Smith, whose last call to duty was on December 30, 2007, will forever be remembered as our hero, sacrificing his life for the safety of our community.

On Thursday, officers were recognized during the Awards Ceremony “Together We Can Make A Difference” held at the GPD Headquarters.  Congratulations to GFT member, POIII Benjamin J. Palomo, for being awarded as Police Officer of the Year and POIII Barry K. Flores for being awarded as Supervisor of the Year.  Thank you to the men and women of GPD for all the hard work you do in our community!
