Members should be incredibly proud to be part of an organization that unites working people to bring fairness and voice to jobs, strengthens the institutions they work, raises the quality and adequacy of the services they provide and advances social and economic justice in the community.  The misconception that many union members have is that the union is an office that provides services for its members.  While that is partly correct, the union is actually each and every one of its members.  The office services are additional benefits and administrative support for its members to assist them in implementing their cause.  Safety is a big issue that our public schools are facing.  As a union, teachers and support staff can get together and form a safety committee.  In that way, our children’s education won’t be jeopardized from unsafe conditions as the safety committee can make recommendations and work with their Principal to ensure our schools are safe.  This is just one of the many ways you can make a difference in your jobs.  So, what would you like to do for your union at your workplace? You have the voice to improve your working conditions, use your power and make the change today.
