Bill 418-32 adopts the rules and regulations of the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission which provides uniform minimum standards in education, training and physical fitness for public safety and law enforcement officers in Guam.  Some concerns brought forth at the public hearing yesterday were in regards to the consequences for officers who do not meet the physical fitness standards, most especially those who have been in the department for several years already.  The POST commission elaborated on the three year transition period which should be ample time for officers to meet the fitness standards.  Another concern was regarding the costs for the required trainings and certification requirements.  The POST commission expressed that they will make revisions as needed.  Any other public concerns on this bill can be submitted in writing to Vice Speaker BJ Cruz.
