AFT President Randi Weingarten reaches out to members at GFT’s 7th Annual Convention held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 in a video message. Weingarten recognizes the challenges on Guam having a high unemployment rate, underfunded schools and attacks on collective bargaining rights. Weingarten assures members that AFT will support GFT in these struggles through legal support, assistance in organizing, and strategic research and communications. Weingarten motivates members to start mobilizing and engaging with the community. “We need to change the conversation because everyone deserves high quality education, everyone deserves a secure retirement and everyone deserves a fair wage,” stated Weingarten.
