Senator Joe San Agustin drafted Bill 160 – 34 with Senator William Castro and Senator Dennis Rodriquez, Jr. to convert 180 school days into tangible hours.  Some middle and high school teachers voiced their concern to GFT in regards to the wording of the amount of hours for their respective grade levels.  The initial amount of hours for middle and high schools in the original bill reflected the hours for an entire school day, which is different from the time students spend in class.  Senator San Agustin met with GFT President Sanjay Sharma and pledged to amend Bill 34-160 to reflect 900 instructional hours for Kindergarten to 12th grade.  Senator San Agustin was proactive in consulting with the Guam Education Board members and the GDOE administration to reach this solution.
