Students, parents, teachers, administrators and all other stakeholders are highly encouraged to voice their concerns regarding Bill 70, converting Simon Sanchez High School into a Charter School, at the Yigo Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Simon Sanchez High School cafeteria at 6pm.

Several stakeholders testified at the Guam Education Board meeting earlier this month in opposition of Bill 70.  Speakers expressed the need for elected leaders to push the RFP process to rebuild the facility instead of converting Simon Sanchez into a private-charter school.  Melanie Blas, a teacher at Simon Sanchez High School for 16 years stated, “Rebuild Sanchez like we’ve been promised for how many years. We’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting. Let’s just rebuild our school because we have great teachers and we have great students.  We have great staff and we have great people here at the school. If we change into a charter school, there’s no guarantee that we’re still going to have all that greatness.”
