At last month’s Guam Education Board meeting, the GFT Board-Union representative, Nicole Nadal, presented the list of teachers who contacted the GFT office regarding the mentorship requirement for certification. The list was then forwarded to the Guam Commission for Educator Certification. Teachers who were not able to complete the mentorship program should request for an extension. According to GDOE, the requirements will remain the same for in-school mentoring; therefore, teachers who received mentoring within their schools would be able to meet the one-year requirement.

GEB Chairman, Mark Mendiola, will be following up with the financial committee regarding the owed BRIP payments (Bonus, Rewards, and Incentives pay). Affected teachers will be updated.

The next Guam Education Board meeting will be on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 6pm in Tiyan.
