Although there has been no official announcement, we are hearing rumors circulating that the DOC will require all officers to be vaccinated for the coronavirus. This is to ensure that you aware of GFT’s opposition to any such requirement.
Reason being, DOC is not just an employer, it is also the government and its officers are also citizens. GFT is strongly opposed to any scenario where the government compels its citizens to participate in experimental drug use. At this time, not one of the three most common experimental vaccines have been approved for use by the FDA and some serious side effects are alleged.
THE CITIZENS OF OUR ISLAND SHOULD NOT BE TREATED AS LAB RATS.
Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, until such time as the FDA completes its research on these vaccines and is able to certify them safe for use, the Union requests that all DOC officers and employees continue to wear masks, wash hands and vaccinations remain voluntary.
