A growing body of research confirms what AFT educators have known all along: Students are the real beneficiaries when teachers have real professional input and latitude. But a new report from the Rand Corp. finds that the majority of principals surveyed believe teachers have influence in school decision-making, while most teachers don’t see such a rosy picture of collaboration. The report recommends that principals establish systems to give teachers a formal role in school decisions to remedy this disconnect.
