teacher shortage areas guam 2021-2023

The TEACH Grant Program provides grants of up to $4,000 a year to students who are completing or plan to complete course work needed to begin a career in teaching. This does not apply to students who are enrolled in a Master’s program where a university or college offers a bachelor’s degree.

As required by the Budget Control Act of 2011 (the sequester law), any TEACH Grant where the first disbursement is on or after October 1, 2021 and before October 1, 2022 requires a reduction of 5.7 percent from the award amount for which the student would otherwise have been eligible.

The following chart shows the FY 21 and FY 22 sequester-required TEACH Grant Program reductions as they apply to the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 award years.
