ALUTIIQ CONTRACT RATIFICATION

Alutiiq contract negotiations have wrapped up and it’s now time for all active GFT Alutiiq members to vote on ratification. Monday, June 29, members are asked to come to the GFT Office in Mangilao to vote on the contract. A draft has been emailed to members, but if you need a copy, feel free to contact one of your Stewards.

GDOE TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Guam Department of Education has announced 16 openings for Cycle Two of the GDOE Internship Program for high school seniors.  Incoming seniors enrolled in a GDOE high school are eligible to apply for the opportunity to gain work experience and earn up to $1,100.
The application for the GDOE internship program may be found on the GDOE website.
The deadline to submit applications is June 24, 2020. Completed applications should be sent electronically to nmonforte@gdoe.net. For more information, please contact nmonforte@gdoe.net.

GFT is currently looking for more members to step up and take on the role of being a Steward at their worksite. Stewards help recruit and keep members informed about union matters. Stewards play a crucial role in helping GFT grow and succeed.

LEGAL ACTION UPDATE

GFT is still pursuing legal action against the Government of Guam for not properly compensating GovGuam employees who worked during the COVID Emergency period. Currently, GFT members from various agencies are meeting with our attorney and we are working to compile necessary evidence for our case.

GFT remains committed to this matter.
