After a decade of stagnant progress with the GFT – Port Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), both the Port and GFT Chief Negotiators have signed off on the final agreement. The new General Manager and former Senator, Rory Respicio, opened negotiations with the GFT and completed the final agreement in less than three months. “This is a historical moment for both management and employees, working together to improve our working conditions at the Port so we can better serve our community. I look forward to continuing this collaboration,” expressed GFT – Port Union Chair and Chief Negotiator, David Teixeira.
Work hours, scheduling, hazard pay and various areas of the employee working conditions were items negotiated in the CBA. The CBA covers all Port Operations and Maintenance employees. The CBA is now up for ratification by the GFT membership and Port Authority Board of Directors.
